the "hand" microphone.

do any of you have certain songs that cause (like an unstoppable force of nature) the "hand" microphone to surface? you know what I mean, right? the HAND MICROPHONE...!!!??? you know, fist clenched, thumb up? I realized the other day that any time Chicago comes on the radio or cycles through my i-Pod the trusty old hand mic makes it's appearance. I can't help it. It just happens.

"Girl, well, it's been one of those days again
And it seems like the harder I try
Over and over, I'm right back where I began..."

what are YOUR hand mic songs? ok ok ok... even if you don't do the hand mic (why not???) certainly there are songs you just can't help belting out...

and needing some advice:
anyone have any suggestions for an external hard drive

and

a maintenance free humidifier (is there such a thing? this weekly cleaning stuff is getting old. and gross.)

I hear you on the humidifiers. I stopped using one a couple of years ago for that same reason. Too much work, and do they help all that much? Now for coughing I just lather some vapor rub on they girls feet and put socks over them. It may not work, but at least I feel like I am doing something.

"You're every woman in the world to me..." "Makin' Love Outta Nothin' at All" "Total Eclipse of the Heart" (so I guess Air Supply ) and most of Celine Dion's songs. Chicago's up there too. Although, I usually don't use the thumb, just the fake microphone in my hand.
And, WHAT IS WRONG WITH Girls Just Wanna Have Fun, Shayne?! It is great!

Slayer: "Raining Blood"

Western Digital are the makers of my external, and it has performed admirably.

I do not require a humidifier.

Anything by Chicago, most definitely, especially on road trips. That thumb really pops up anytime we're on the road.
I have a humidifier that has this supposed fan that dries out the filter after each use. It is loud and lasts for 45 minutes, but it does seem to keep the stench and cleaning down.
We have an external by Western Digital and it was "okayed" by our good friend who is a graphic designer and mac know-all. The thing he told us to keep in mind is whether it is a usb or firewire hookup depending on how you want to use it. We'll talk...

My microphone is old school- it has a cord instead of being wireless. I stick my thumb up and my pinkie out. Voila! A microphone with a cord. :) I usually reserve it for "Q92" songs. (Those of you from Logan know what I mean.)

Let me know if you find that humidifier. We kinda act like they are disposable.

Pretty much anything fron Bon Jovi is hand mic worthy and most of the 80's music. I'm a belter~especially in my car. Yep, I'm the one having a one man band on the steerling wheel of my car singing as loud as I can down the freeway!! People laugh but its a good time for all parties involved~me!!

I get into it without a mic, my hands-gotta keep them on the wheel. I like Marcie's Maxtor Hard drive. I imagine you standing on a table in front of the kids singing to them, Andy of course is on the front row with the kids blowing kisses- sounds like FHE right? Nice blog, I floated over from Chelsea's. Love you guys- Paul

My favorite hand mic song has to be Turbo Lover by Judas Priest. You didn't see that from me did you?

"Tell me what you want, what you really really want.."

Oh yeah, I put on my platform shoes and strut across the kitchen waiving my purple boa over dirty glasses and silverware--so I don't have a hand free, but I sing so loud I wouldn't need one! (plus the "I wanna, I wanna, I wanna.." part takes a lot of concentration, so I keep my thumbs in check.)

Actually, I'm not immune to breaking out my old college moves now and then to a good beat--can't wait to demonstrate them to my girls' future dates! (on second thought, I'm a very patient man)

Oh my word - you crack me up! Next time you get your microphone out to sing along with Chicago, call me. Love that group!

Thanks for the great idea to go to the late movie on Saturday night - 27 Dresses - and for a great "girls night out" with the gang.

You are so darn much fun to be around! Mother T
